When I get confronted by something that is difficult or learning pit, I tend to have a pattern. Let’s use a difficult class assignment for example.
First, I start the assignment right away, in an attempt of being a little bit productive. If it’s something too challenging and I can’t figure it out in the first 10 minutes, I move one to easier things. I justify this with these phrases "Save the hard stuff for last." or "You have to warm up with the easier stuff and get in the mindset for the harder stuff." After I have done everything else that I need to do, like other assignments, the laundry, or cleaning my room. I confront the learning pit one more time. But at this point, I am already burnt out by all the other stuff I have done today. So I procrastinate and tell myself I will do the assignment another day. If you cant already tell this system doesn’t work very well and creates a mountain out of a mole hill. I am slowly figuring out how to get out of this pattern and use a different system. Right now I have been trying out this idea I call “Just Get It Done” This system works pretty well. How it works is instead of planning when I will do the assignment I just do it the second I have free time. This helps keep me on my toes and makes it so I don’t make a freak myself out before I even start. School started a few weeks ago here at New Tech High and I have got to say, I am not disappointed. This year I am taking Math 3, History, American Literature, Advanced Art, and digital design. I have particularly enjoyed digital design because I feel as though its taking my art to a new level. I cant wait to see what this year has in store for me .
